Updated elections results show Bruce Harrell maintains strong lead over M. Lorena Gonzlez
SEATTLE -- Updated election results released late Wednesday show Bruce Harrell maintaining a strong lead over M. Lorena González in the race to become Seattle's next mayor.
According to the updated results, Harrell has 64.22% of the vote compared to González 's 35.45%.
Harrell’s commanding lead is expected to tighten even more in the days ahead as more ballots are counted. Statistics show the later votes tend to favor the most progressive candidates.
Mark A. Smith, Professor of Political Science at the University of Washington, says he believes the race really came down to a difference in messaging.
