The National Weather Service is predicting the Skagit River near Mount Vernon will reach over 37 feet by Tuesday, nearly reaching a record that was set in 1990.
In preparation for what could potentially be happening, the city of Mount Vernon is putting up its temporary floodwall along its Riverwalk.
Glad to see they are prepared for it, said Mike Haffey, a resident of Mount Vernon.
According to Haffey, whos lived in Mount Vernon for about 70 years, and this is the first time hes seeing this important work done in person.

(60,010 posts)I've been watching videos of cars along the car lots on Iowa street floating away, guys in kayaks paddling around, and breath taking vids of the lanfslides that closed I-5.
As the rain moves east, more flooding upstream will come down, making the problem long lasting and clean up difficult.
Main...actually the only...highway on the Olympic Peninsula is closed in many places, and get this...Vancouver BC highways have washed out, leaving the city isolated now.
Whole state is taking weather hits of one kind or the other.
I'm kind of glad Iam not there anymore. too much weather drama.
