Back from my first trip to Washington.
I worked the ENTIRE time and spent most of my time just north of Seattle. I waved at the Space Needle as I flew in and flew out (sigh).
Here are my observations:
99.99999999999% of Washingtonians (is that right?) were VERY nice and cordial and helpful. You guys are SUCH courteous drivers. You don't regard using a turn signal as a sign of weakness (If you've ever driven in the Bay Area you know what I mean). You know how to drive a freeway, how to get on and off the onramps/offramps and your freeways are so clean! I LOVED the lush woods. And the BEST DAMNED HOTEL COFFEE EVER! Usually you stay at a hotel and the room coffee is barely drinkable. It's what you use to wake up enough to go get real coffee. The hotel room coffee was as good as I have at home and that's saying a lot AND it was available 24/7.
Apparently this last weekend was a large rock fest in Seattle and something called the Naked Bike Rally? Both events sounded great, but, alas, no time for fun.
The only thing you might think about working on? Authentic Mexican food. Maybe I just hit the wrong restaurant but it left a lot to be desired. But that's it! Otherwise I loved the visit.
Next time I go, though, I'm actually gonna get to do something fun!
So, here's to the great state of Washington and all it's terrific people!

Come back anytime. I think you will. I was born and raised in the South, and there's nowhere I would rather live than here.
As for the Mexican food, you may not have had enough time to find an authentic Mexican food place. There are a lot of them here. We have large Mexican-American population here, so the best places are likely to be the family-owned ones. If you ever make it to Tacoma, find your way to Moctezuma's. It's a legend around here.
are high! Not many can get away with serving mediocre coffee anymore. It's an unwritten law.
I am a recent Washington transplant (moved here from Va) and Mexican food restaurants has been my biggest let down so far. It may be that I just have become accustomed to what passes for Mexican food where I used to live but it just hasn't gone over well with me. A lot of the Mexican food places in Va use white cheese sauces and red mole sauces and I have not found that to be true so far here in Washington. Hasn't been bad, just different. Otherwise, I LOVE IT HERE. One of the best decisions I ever made. Been a great experience so far...well except for the fact I'm a state employee and they can't agree on a state budget and I got a temporary lay-off notice to start July 1st....other than that it great 
but you take what you can get. We do have really awesome salmon sushi!
I don't know your local around Washington but a good google search might get you what you need. I have been able to find a few hole in the wall establishments for Filipino food and guessing you might get close to some really good Mexican food. I haven't checked Pike Place but that should be a good start.

We have a great little Mexican take out joint out here in Snoho. It's called Pollo Loco and it's on Rt 9 between Woodinville and Snoho. Chicken "crack" Tortas. OMG.....
It's just a small building in a gas station parking lot. It use to be an espresso stand but they refitted it to serve food.
BTW: The Wineries in Woodinville now have Truck night with Fine Wine. They invite some of the best Trucks in from Seattle for the evening and have their house pours. Lots of fun!
Glad you enjoyed it here! Yeah next time you gotta come out here strictly for fun! I mean, one could spend probably an entire week on just the Olympic Penninsula and still not see everything... that's not counting Seattle, Tacoma, the mountains, eastern Washington, etc. But, we're one of the few states that I know of where in the month of June or July you can hang out at the beach then drive to the mountains and have a snowball fight all in the same day.
