Leavenworth declares disaster due to record-breaking snow
LEAVENWORTH, WA – Mayor Carl Florea declared a disaster in Leavenworth after the city received 36 inches of snow in under 24 hours.
The mayor says some areas of the city have gotten up to 48 inches of snow in the last 48 hours, causing safety concerns.
The emergency declaration allows the city to get access to aid and resources quickly, the mayor says.
The mayor is also requesting aid from the National Guard for assistance with welfare checks, food delivery, and snow cleanup.
