Massive boulder complicates reopening of White Pass
White Pass remains closed Wednesday due to high avalanche danger, a rockslide and a huge boulder that could come down onto U.S. 12.
A rockslide blocking White Pass west of the summit on Tuesday left a large boulder exposed about 125 feet above the highway.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said the boulder is about 12 feet by 8 feet by 6 feet. It could dislodge due to additional snow, rain and a mix of freezing and thawing temperatures.
A crew specializing in rock removal will be brought in to safely remove it on Wednesday.
