AG files civil rights lawsuit against Wenatchee veteran's nonprofit, CEO
WENATCHEE, Wash. Attorney General Bob Ferguson has filed a civil rights lawsuit against a veterans nonprofit and the CEO for allegedly sexually harassing at least a dozen women.
The Wenatchee nonprofit, Operation Veterans Assistance & Humanitarian Aid (OVAHA), and its CEO Thelbert Thad Lawson Jr., allegedly discriminated against and harassed the women who worked at the two stores. One is the Veterans Warehouse Thrift Store in Wenatchee and the other is the Veterans Thrift Store in Kennewick.
OVAHA and Lawson are accused of subjecting employees to sexual harassment, including offensive and unwanted touching, sexually charged remarks and what Ferguson calls inappropriate requests.
Court documents say Lawson learned one employee consulted with a lawyer, so retaliated by taking her away from the cashier position, monitoring her on store cameras and isolating her from co-workers.
