Seattle jury hands down $19M verdict against condo tower project

A King County Superior Court jury has awarded Skanska USA Building $19.2 million in its breach of contract complaint against the developer of the Nexus condo tower on the edge of downtown Seattle.

Kevin McCain, Skanska executive vice president, said in a Thursday statement that the jury awarded his company nearly all of the damages it had sought. "After exhausting other options for resolution, we went to trial seeking $20.4 million in damages," the statement read.

Skanska's attorney Scott Sleight of Ahlers Cressman & Sleight declined to comment beyond McCain's statement.

Skanska sued 1200 Howell Street LLC, which Vancouver, British Columbia-based Burrard Group formed to develop the 41-story tower with 389 residences, 89% of which have been sold.
