First of final concrete pours for West Seattle Bridge begin

The first of the final pours of specialized concrete needed to strengthen and repair the West Seattle Bridge was poured Saturday morning.

On Saturday, 35 cubic yards of concrete were poured. Bridge repairs will require 245 cubic yards, or about 30 truckloads, of the specialized concrete in total.

Crews also recently received two truckloads of non-structural concrete for the bridge’s new expansion joints and SDOT completed the final core drills through the bridge’s pier structures.

SDOT says it will be able to revisit its schedule for completing the bridge repairs once the concrete pours are completed and the work is inspected.
