Verizon raises retail wages as Snohomish County workers launch union push
Verizon Communications Inc. is raising its retail minimum wage to $20 an hour, the company announced last week.
The pay increase comes as employers nationwide struggle to attract and retain retail workers. Verizon also faces from workers in Everett and Lynnwood its first unionization effort since 2019.
In addition raising the minimum wage, the New York-based company is now offering premium pay for assistant managers who work on holidays, Sundays and for those who are bilingual.
Our V Teamers give their best day in and day out to support our customers with all of their needs, which is why we want to make sure we support them as well, Chief Operating Officer Krista Bourne said in a news release. These changes are the direct result of employee feedback and will help us remain an attractive employer in this competitive environment.
