Encampment fire jamming traffic on eastbound I-90 in Seattle
Smoke from an encampment fire and the response from firefighters brought traffic to a crawl on eastbound Interstate 90 in Seattle Monday morning.
The fire has been burning in a nearby wooded area since about 6:30 a.m. The flames likely spread from the encampment fire to nearby brush and turned into a larger fire.
Video from a Washington State Department of Transportation camera on I-90 at Eighth Avenue South shows smoke in the air and multiple fire vehicles on I-90. Watch live video of the backup here.
For two hours, traffic already on I-90 was alternating with traffic entering I-90 from the northbound I-5 onramp.
