Steady dry weather may not arrive until Memorial Day weekend in Western Washington

SEATTLE — Sometimes the weather gets stuck in a rut.

Western Washington is locked in a persistent pattern of cool, showery weather. Another month of subdued spring is possible as La Niña continues to weaken.

An extended stretch of dry weather is bound to happen but might not be until Memorial Day weekend.

April showers will be living up to their name Tuesday. Big, puffy white cumulus clouds will blossom in the daytime heating, some reaching high altitudes. Any tall shower will easily tap into colder air aloft and produce tiny balls of soft hail.
