Work starts on Seattle waterfront's $70M Overlook Walk project

Work started this week on Overlook Walk, a key component of the $756 million Waterfront Park project.

If all goes according to plan, the long-held dream of a more obvious pedestrian connection between Pike Place Market to the waterfront will become reality in 2025.

The full 20-acre park is expected to be "substantially complete" by early to mid-2025, though project managers continue to assess the overall delays caused by the concrete strike, a project spokesperson said Wednesday.

The strike by ready-mix truck drivers represented by Teamsters Local 174 is ongoing, but work on projects across King County resumed in April as the two sides continue to seek a settlement.
