33 naturalized on USS John Paul Jones to kickoff Seafair weekend

There is nothing more American than Seafair, and aboard a Navy ship Friday, dozens of people became brand new Americans.

On board the USS John Paul Jones, 33 people started a new voyage in their life becoming Americans.

All were either U.S. military members or dependents.

“I feel really proud,” US Army specialist Siroj Shrestha said. “I’m really honored to be part of one of the strongest countries of the world, so I’m really happy. Big day for me.”

I still tear up with happiness thinking about these brand-new Americans, and how much they will add to our national endeavors. I'm glad there are still people who find us a worthy destination for starting a new life. May we be as worthy of them...
