Bumbershoot files early plan for downtown Bed, Bath & Beyond space

Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival appears poised to set up shop in the vacant Bed, Bath & Beyond store in downtown Seattle.

The Labor Day weekend festival, which is set to return for the first time since the start of the pandemic, last week submitted a pre-application to the city to use the two-floor space on Virginia Street between Third and Fourth avenues.

"We are hoping to lease this building for cultural programming related to Bumbershoot," states the paperwork, which adds the project "is designed to activate the downtown core and offer programming 360 days a year, with the balance of Bumbershoot remaining at Seattle Center."

Art programming would include visual and performing arts, retail sales, and a youth arts education program, according to the pre-application.
