Edmonds-Kingston ferry trips canceled due to dock corrosion
EDMONDS — Ferry sailings between Edmonds and Kingston were canceled Friday morning after severe corrosion was found on the vehicle ramp, according to Washington State Ferries.
The route resumed in the early afternoon following repairs.
The issue where the vehicle ramp connects to the dock in Edmonds, called the “apron,” was first found in a routine inspection in September, agency spokesperson Hadley Rodero said. Maintenance was scheduled for overnight Thursday. But when crews arrived, they discovered the corrosion was more extensive after lifting a steel plate.
Crews were working Friday morning underneath the dock to repair the issue, Rodero said.
