Grocery store unions push back on Kroger-Albertsons merger

Seattle, WA. – The news of the potential Kroger-Albertson’s merger is drawing pushback from grocery store workers.

Unions UFCW 3000, UFCW 367 and Teamsters 38 are strongly opposing an upcoming dividend payment of $4 billion from Albertsons to shareholders, as well as the merger altogether.

Tom Geiger, a spokesperson with UFCW 3000, says when unions and workers found out about the payment, it didn’t sit well with many.

“People are having a hard time paying for food themselves, honestly. And seeing the companies that they work for giving away billions to shareholders is not well received,” Geiger said.

As long as I can remember we were told that grocery stores operated on a very thin profit margin. Turns out that was propaganda bullshit. They're sitting, apparently, on a ton of cash.

There are grocery chains that are owned by the employees. That's where I shop.

Payday!

There are many things in a super I just won't buy or pay for, or won't pay up at specific prices.

Recently I had to clean my stainless Steel sink. I researched online. Saw all the products mentioned. I have always used SS cleaner, powder form. Online though, said to try baking soda. Sure enough. Baking soda and elbow grease. Cleaner than ever. So I don't have to buy the chemicals at $10 a bottle.
