Plane crashes near Snohomish; number of survivors unknown

SNOHOMISH — Police and firefighters responded to a fiery small plane crash around 10:30 a.m. between Snohomish and Monroe on Friday morning.

Public flight data suggested the plane was a Cessna 208B Caravan manufactured by Textron Aviation, Inc., in 2021. Usually the planes seat nine passengers plus the pilot, but the model can seat up to 14.

The number of survivors, and whether anyone had been killed, remained unclear as of noon Friday.

Preliminary reports indicated the plane went down near U.S. 2 and 100th Street SE. Authorities located the plane in the middle of a field south of U.S. 2, according to Fire District 4. Due to the damage, the passenger count was unknown, fire officials reported just after 11:30 a.m.

Plane crashes in Snohomish County near Harvey Field

A plane has crashed and caught fire in Snohomish County near Harvey Field.

Reports began coming in around 10:40 a.m. Friday.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reports that US Highway 2 is closed from 88th to Westwick.

Emergency crews are responding. Firefighters are trying to put out a fire at the crash site.

SNOHOMISH, Wash. — Two people were killed after a plane crashed into a field south of Highway 2 in Snohomish County Friday morning.

Highway 2 is currently closed between 88th Street Southeast and Westwick Road near Snohomish due to the crash, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. There is no estimated time of reopening.

Snohomish County Fire District No. 4 said the district was alerted to “a possible aircraft collision” just before 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The crash happened about 2 miles east of Harvey Field in Snohomish.

Snohomish County Fire District No. 4 said in a news release the exact size of the plane, passenger count or the aircraft's model number are currently not known due to the extent of the damage. Officials at the scene confirmed to KOMO News that two people were killed in the crash.
