Out of all 50 states, Washington has been listed as the best state to retire in, according to research by Global Residence Index.
Retirement is a crucial stage of someone's life and choosing a place that is happy, healthy and safe is imperative," said a spokesperson for Global Residence Index.
The research used seven key factors to rank each of the 50 states, and Washington ranked in the top ten for five of the seven factors.
Air quality, life expectancy, violent crime reports, environment quality, Medicaid spending, and 65+ population were considered the most important factors for those of retirement age, according to Global Residence Index.

But it's wet and cold in the winter. You won't find that in Floriduh or Arizona. 😁

I found a really nice stretch of land in Washington, but the house is by far the crown jewel of the valley and I fear located in Trump voter area. Off market now. And some Spanish colonial in Oregon and when I got an aerial view I saw it. It is in a calderón.

(2,120 posts).....as a retiree myself, couldn't agree more about our great state. My experience here tells me not to be too worried about hordes of Californians moving North and driving property values up by paying too much for our real estate and tainting our politics with Orange County idiocy. This is because they usually last only a couple of winters before bailing out and moving to Arizona. In my mind this is Darwinian as only the fittest survive and the species is protected.
Apologies to DUers from California - You folks are certainly welcome.
