Downtown Seattle retailer Fox's Seattle to close after 112 years

One of downtown Seattle's oldest retailers is closing its doors after more than a century in business.

Founded in 1912, Fox's Seattle, formerly Fox's Gem Shop, has operated out of a number of Seattle locations over the years, most recently the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The jeweler is set to close April 27.

“Closing Fox’s Seattle has been a difficult decision, but it is the right decision,” third-generation owner and President Zoey Mann said in a news release. “Fox’s Seattle has been part of my family for 75 years. The store has been a second home, and we are forever grateful to the employees, designers and customers who have joined us on our journey.”

Mann's grandfather Sid Thal acquired Fox's in 1948 for $15,000, keeping the name from founder Harry Fox.
