Relief coming for Seattleites in search of a downtown public restroom

It's a most unpleasant predicament: You're out and about in Seattle and nature calls. Good luck finding a publicly accessible toilet.

That should be a little easier early next year, when a public restroom opens at the new Waterfront Park.

On Thursday, the city's Office of the Waterfront and Civic Projects announced it has awarded an $1.8 million contract to Bayley Construction to build the project on the park promenade between Union and University streets. Construction is planned to begin this spring and last nine months.

The restroom includes six individual all-gender stalls, including a stall accessible to people with physical disabilities.

Just hope it doesn't become trashed like a lot of public facilities do.
