Seattle residents gather to mourn, protest, and demand justice following the execution of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis
by Cassie Clayton
Today, I stood with fellow Seattleites outside the Federal Building in the citys central business district following the unjustified killing of Alex Pretti earlier in the day in Minneapolis. Pretti, a U.S. citizen and registered nurse, lost his life to federal agents who are oppressing the people of Minnesota.
The Seattle gathering took the form of a peaceful vigil and rally, part of a growing national response calling for accountability, transparency, and adherence to constitutional protections. I was present as part of the trained de-escalation and security team, supporting organizers in maintaining a safe, accessible, and peaceful space for collective mourning and protest.
The plaza filled with candles, photographs, and a temporary altar on the benches honoring Alex Pretti, Renée Good, Liam Conejo Ramos, and others who have been killed or seriously harmed during federal enforcement actions.
People stood together listening to speakers, chanting for justice, and writing names and messages in chalk along the steps and sidewalks. At one point, an organizer read aloud a statement released by Alex Prettis family.
