First UW female president announced

I’m honored to share the news that Ana Mari Cauce, who joined the University of Washington as an assistant professor in 1986 and who exemplifies all that Huskies stand for, has been selected to be the UW’s 33rd president. Many of you had her as a professor during your academic careers, a role for which she earned the UW's Distinguished Teaching Award, and her leadership will advance our steadfast mission to build the excellence of the UW in service to the public good.

This is a day for all UW alumni and friends to celebrate, and I know you will join me in congratulating President Cauce on what is truly a milestone for our University.

Sincerely,
Bill Ayer
Chair, UW Board of Regents
