weird - should I worry?

I caucused for bernie here in wa on the 26th but I was not chosen as a delegate - however, I just got a text asking me to confirm I would be there this sunday to be a delegate for him.....

I informed the person that I wasnt a delegate, that I'd go if needed but that theres an error....she instructed me to report it to bernies wa ppl...so I did....

but this is weird....maybe im just paranoid....

Maybe someone dropped out -- who knows. But protect yourself. You have already put yourself on the line. You are visible so maybe you are a target. I am more inclined to think you are a delegate!

Or an alternative?

Do you have a ticket that was signed by your caucus chair on March 26? You need that to get in. If you don't then I think someone's playing tricks with you.

I'm in favor of democracy, and I think, like others are saying, that you might have ended up on an alternate list--put there by Sanders people-- as a consequence of your official status as a precinct captain.

Worst case, you can observe the proceedings. Not a wasted day, I should think.

You can be elected as a delegate to the next level however. Hope this video helps.

but they wanted everyone to show up at the LD caucuses for their district. Even people who weren't delegates or alts. I cannot swear to what I read but there might be opportunities for additional delegates/alts.

Another thing that I remember reading is that Washington had changed a rule which would allow alternates to step in as delegates in precincts (outside than their own) that had no-shows? Question mark because I didn't read it that closely since I'm a delegate and was going to be there anyways and it is all new to me so I wouldn't trust myself to give totally accurate info.

https://go.berniesanders.com/page/s/wa-legislative-district-caucus That link was in an email that I did save. It is for people who aren't delegates/alts but still wish to go to the Legislative district caucuses.

I've been receiving texts from Sanders' campaign volunteers. They are nothing to fret about.

10. What I recall

is that it was only to replace elected delegates that are unable to show up. Any delegate role that wasn't filled to begin with would not have an alt replacement available.

I wish I kept the email that had the details but a quick search found this:

If I have a chance tonight, I'll look for an official source.

do all you can do that might end up being helpful in support of Bernie.

It seems there have been all kinds of weird situations/shenanigans going on.

If anyone you think might be from the Bernie campaign asks you for help, please do what you can. Do what seems right, and of course be polite; but don't be gullible, and video or otherwise record everything; save all communications, etc.

The Bernie people are definitely asking for volunteers to attend in order to help.

Also, as I understand it, no one who was not elected as a delegate or alternate at the precinct caucus can become one later.

However, (also as I understand it) the state party has reinterpreted the rules to mean that an alternate can fill the seat of an absent delegate in a different precinct within the LD. This could help prevent the kind of flip that happened in Las Vegas. It also makes the presence of alternates much more critical, and the campaign is urging all alternates to show up.

Or a typo by the person sending the email.
If so, that's even a good reason to go and help herd the Bernie cats, to help insure our most effective impact.
Remember most of us are new at this. Next time we'll be veterans.

The 34th LD had plenty of trouble with incomplete packets being returned, and people caucusing in the wrong precincts.
