EVERETT U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan will tour the Boeing Co. plant in Everett on Thursday and chat with workers about his plan to slash the amount of federal taxes paid by the plane-builder and other businesses in order to spur economic growth.
Ryans visit is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. with a tour of various production lines. He will then hold a town hall with employees that will be streamed live online, according to information released by the speakers office.
Neither event is open to the public.
Washington Republican U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse is slated to join Ryan in Everett. Newhouse, who lives in Sunnyside, serves on the House Appropriations Committee and House Rules Committee.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene, whose district includes part of Snohomish County, did not get invited though she is on the House Ways and Means Committee that would act on any tax reform legislation.

Why Rep. Newhouse? I believe Boeing does some test flights out of Moses Lake but outside of that they no facilities in his district.
Sounds like the typical Trumpian style of only talking to those on the right.

(20,577 posts)Boeing gets off the hook for taxes in Washington and then they will beg to bankrupt the country to get out of federal taxes they don't pay anyway. Hope the papers make note of that n Thursday.

(20,190 posts)The only thing that encourages companies to grow is DEMAND. Cut corpprate tax rates leaves more money in their bank accounts, but they aren't going to spend ot on expansion unless there is DEMAND to back it up. They'll just take the extra dough and pay fat bonuses to their execs, or buy back stock, which is also good for execs because they usually get a lot of stock options as part of their compensation.
I never hear any Democrats talk about this.
