Boeing warns of next Seattle-area layoffs, notifying workers before Paul Ryan's visit
Boeing has notified more workers that they will be laid off starting Oct. 20, and more than half of the employees losing their jobs work in Washington state.
Boeing delivered 60-day layoff warnings required under labor laws to approximately 135 employees on Aug.18 as part of an ongoing employment-reduction process, Boeing spokesman Paul Bergman confirmed.
"About 75 of those work in Washington state," Bergman said. "We value our employees and provide a variety of career-transition services for those impacted by these reductions."
Boeing did not say what positions would be cut or where.
