'Anti-vaxxers' lose: State Senate removes exemption for vaccinations

Washington has dealt a blow to the so-called "anti-vaxxers."

The Washington Legislature is poised to remove personal and philosophical beliefs as grounds for exempting school-bound children from being vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella.

The State Senate passed legislation by a 25-22 vote on Wednesday night, after Republicans tried to stall the bill against a 5 p.m. deadline. They then voted No.

The legislation goes back to the House. which on a more bipartisan vote earlier passed a similar version of the bill. Assuming the two chambers can agree, Gov. Jay Inslee is expected to sign the bill into law.

Republicans continue to be anti science.
