Report: Job openings increase in Seattle as median wage drops a few bucks

While the median wage for a Seattle worker slumped a little in July, the number of job openings saw another bump, something mirrored across the nation, according to a new job report from Glassdoor.

Median pay for the Emerald City dropped down to $63,034 a year for July 2019, a $168 decrease from June. But it's not all bad news as it was a 2.2% growth over July 2018, a higher year-over-year increase than the national median which rose 1.9% to $53,602 since last year.

Job openings grew faster in Seattle than the rest of the nation as well, a repeat of June's job report. The number of openings from last month also increased by 3,505; the increase was felt relatively even across the city's industries as the top performers from June were the same in July, health care still reigning supreme for openings.

The year-over-year growth for job openings in Seattle was 7.1%, more than the 4.6% national growth. It also beat out cities like New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. But, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Boston all had higher growth. Boston had a year-over-year increase of 10.6% for a total of 152,376 job openings.
