I am running for School Board in Stoughton-vote April 1st.

For any of you who live here or know someone who does, I would appreciate spreading the word to vote only for me to improve my chances of replacing one of my 3 anti-teacher, anti-union opponents. I am the only non-incumbent, with one "incumbent" having never won the office, but has been appointed by the board twice.

I have been endorsed by Dane Democrats, South Central Federation of Labor, SEIU, Wisconsin Women in Numbers, and Wisconsin Progress. I will work to increase transparency on the board by bringing votes to the public's attention (most now happen in closed session), getting information out to the public through something other than the paper, and showing up. That last might seem like nothing, but in the candidate forum last week, I was the only candidate for School Board who showed up, even after the other candidates asked for the forum on that date and then after bowing out, refused to even submit a 2 minute statement as offered by the local paper. They are not responsive to the voters.

I will work with other progressives on the board to bring educators back into the decision making process and reverse the shameful conditions the current board has placed on them such as eliminating "just cause" for termination, progressive discipline, and seniority in consideration for layoffs.
