Related: About this forumWrong move by Burke
Seems Mary Burke has chosen not to appear with President Obama when he comes to Wisconsin on Labor Day. This is disrespectful and just plain stupid. Obama did carry the state and many, many of us still back him. It is also cowardly and calculating not to appear with him.
Burke has to step up, show some courage and stand close to him at his appearance.

They will be meeting outside the official Presidential duties for the day. I do not know if there are public events with Burke scheduled, but she is not snubbing the president, HelenWheels.

(2,284 posts)There has to be some way she could appear on the stage with him. Looks really bad.

(3,577 posts)Either that the president doesn't want to be seen with her, or that she doesn't want to be seen with the president because he is "so unpopular." Or both! They are desperate to get some coverage that will be favorable to their side, and they are pushing this.
I do think that when he returns to campaign for her it absolutely must be in Milwaukee. The African American community is solidly against Walker and quite willing to vote for Mary Burke but they need as much motivation as possible to actually vote. When Milwaukee votes strongly, we win. If not ... I don't want to think about it.

There will only be standing room for the general public.
The event will be centered on the Miller Stage area.
If you are a union member, either active or retired, you can get tickets for the seating area for the event from your local union office.
To find out more details about the event please call the Milwaukee Area Labor Council (414-771-7070), watch the Labor Council's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Milwaukee-Area-Labor-Council/344125818816), or check local news sources. President Obama will return to Wisconsin to campaign for Mary Burke later in the Fall.
Many people are wondering why Mary Burke will not be appearing in public with the President during this visit. Tha answer is simple: it is standard White House policy to separate official Presidential functions from campaign events. The President's visit on Labor Day is an official Presidential function and not a campaign visit. For those of you who remember Mayor Barrett introducing the President at a past official White House visit in the past, he was doing so as Mayor and not a candidate.
