(17,865 posts)North Carolina, Louisiana, and now Wisconsin. My daughter's college Iowa State still has open reqs out for engineering faculty.
I simply cannot imagine that a jewel such as UW is being cast into the dirt.

(741 posts)Is it gerrymandering? The war on education is not only obvious in Wisconsin but also in Kansas and many other places. But the war on education has not just begun recently, it began with people that require things that they can touch and feel. Once testing became the primary focus of education, the war was lost.
Testing transforms education into currency. I'm not saying testing isn't valid, but we now teach for improved testing rather than being thoughtful or curious. Thoughtfulness and curiosity cannot be measured and are therefore worthless to ignorant folk.
If stupid people are now in charge of education, what should be our expectation.
Try explaining the value of the Socratic method to an idiot.
