University of Wisconsin System Regents say they want control over tuition back

University of Wisconsin System Regents said last week they want state legislators who control funding to the university to hand authority to set tuition back to them and voted Friday to increase tuition for the 2018-2019 school year.

“We are the body that’s supposed to set tuition to guarantee the quality of education,” Regent Margaret Farrow said. “It’s important for everyone to remember that.”

Gov. Scott Walker and members of the Republican controlled Legislature have frozen tuition for in-state undergraduate students since 2013, even as they reduced state funding to the university by $362 million since 2012.

Regents said Friday that such a two-pronged restriction on revenue is not sustainable. They voted to keep tuition for in-state undergraduates unchanged for the 2017-2018 academic year, then increase it the following year by no more than the rate of the Consumer Price Index.

Then, he fixes the prices that "business" is allowed to charge.

Sure, makes sense to me.
