Pocan is a good WI guy, one of the only ones we have here, but he is incorrect. I live in elderly disabled building. 73 tenants. Single adults making $4Grand to $13Grand a year. Where I live folks are being killed by drug prices. Nobody is saving $1,000, believe me. Nobody. I get that he is prettying up ACA, but this is not true.

When seniors on Medicare part D get to a certain point in the year's cost for their drugs, they would have to pay full price until another point is reached. The ACA now fills part of that gap.

In 2016, seniors receive a 55 percent discount on brand-name prescription drugs and a 42 percent discount on generic drugs, which is applied at the pharmacy. Below are the amounts that beneficiaries will pay for their medications until the donut hole is closed in 2020.
2016: 45 percent for brand-names and 58 percent for generics
2017: 40 percent for brand-names and 51 percent for generics
2018: 35 percent for brand-names and 44 percent for generics
2019: 30 percent for brand-names and 37 percent for generics
2020: 25 percent for brand-names and 25 percent for generics

The ACA also improves eligibility and drug coverage for low-income Medicare beneficiaries by:
Eliminating copayments for many beneficiaries receiving home- and community-based services who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.
Reducing the number of low-income beneficiaries required to change plans each year to maintain zero premiums.
Allowing widows and widowers to more easily retain their low-income eligibility.
Enhancing outreach programs to ensure that more beneficiaries who are eligible for a Part D Low-Income Subsidy are able to enroll.
