Does anyone have a feel how the upcoming elections will turn out?

I live in Appleton, and almost all the signs I see are pro-walker. I've always felt that the Fox Valley was right of center, but not THAT far right.

And what about Tammy Baldwin vs Tommy Thompson? The last I saw was that the old buffoon was leading Tammy. Wisconsin used to have one of the best combination of senators, but now we could end up with one of the worst. Lord help us!

Am I worrying over nothing?

1. I wish I could say you are worrying over nothing...

I think that Walker will be replaced, mind you. But, I also realize it is not a done deal and it will not be easy. It is historic that the recall election is even happening, so that is a victory. All I can say is try not to worry too much, I think things will work out. Crossing my fingers for you.

2. Extremely blue in Madison. My little corner of SE Dane Co can go either way

but WAY more recall signs than those who support. In the last few elections, our Progressive group has been rather good at getting out the vote (leafleting, registering voters, getting petition sigs, etc) so we had a good election locally. When I drive south of Madison through Brodhead area, I see lots of recall signs.

We must keep at it. Front page of the Wisconsin State Urinal shows Walkers fundraising for direct mail ALONE dwarfs all the Dems donations in total! But we have people power and he does not. We must fight. Please donate if you can to whoever is running against him. Make sure people vote in the primary so that the fake Dem for Guv does not win!

3. Walker can't win in a fair fight, ergo voter suppression. Don't worry about the yard signs....

... Walker gives them away free. Our side must pay, since the Koch brothers don't give us a nickle.

Its harder to predict the fall, but I hope the Republicans trash each other all summer. Look out for Hovde.

Could be just a rumor.

I have seen some recall signs even in rural areas though, but yes more pro-Walker signs.

In Milwaukee, Madison, and Kenosha there are tons of recall signs as well...

After hearing about the abuse that petition circulators faced, some people may hesitate to put out a sign in the yard for fear of vandalism or worse. But they will be glad to vote Walker out.

7. The polls show there is plenty to be concerned about

"Barrett, who lost to Walker in the governor's race in November 2010 by about 123,000 votes, or 5 percentage points, has a 47 percent to 46 percent lead on the governor among registered voters, the poll said. But among likely voters, the situation flips, and Walker leads by 1 percentage point, or 48 percent to 47 percent....

Walker did better against the other Democratic challengers, according to the poll. He led former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, the first Democrat into the recall race, by 49 percent to 42 percent among registered voters and 49 percent to 43 among likely voters."

I think the yard sign and bumper sticker imbalance is largely the result of the money imbalance. The right wing has millions and millions of dollars to spend to create the impression that Walker has widespread support. That said, I'm still getting my house ready for the market, pending the June 5 results...

8. The number of signs doesn't mean much.

They're just a conspicuous reminder of what we already know. They have $$$ (lots)
to pay for the printing and distribution costs. Go figure. If lots of lawn signs is the best
they can do, maybe our having actual facts and decisions to point to will actually have
more effect, in helping people make their choices.
