State party leaders to get first look at venues, hotels for 2020 DNC in Milwaukee

In two waves this week, state party leaders will be scouting out their hotels and the venues for the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.

For many, it will be their first chance to actually get an up-close visit to the city that will host up to 50,000 visitors during the four-day convention, July 13-16.

“We’re excited and we’re hearing good things from visitors who come to Milwaukee, which I love to hear,” Mayor Tom Barrett said. “So many people haven’t been here before, so this is opening the eyes of people all over the nation as to what a beautiful city we have. And we’re going to spend a lot of time being ambassadors and telling our story.”

Barrett said he plans to highlight the lake, the rivers, “and the fact that we’ve got positive economic development along with sustainability for each of our rivers,” along with tech and job growth in the city.
