Racine — Today in the 21st State Senate district recount, blatant disenfranchisement was attempted by Van Wanggaard’s representatives.

A Republican Attorney from Van Wanggaard’s campaign argued vehemently that citizen’s votes should not count if poll workers made administrative errors such as not asking for their signature in the poll book. They issued this objection despite the Government Accountability Board’s directive to count these votes to avoid disenfranchising any citizens.

SSDC’s executive director Zac Kramer stated, “Thankfully, this objection was soundly defeated by the Republican dominated board of canvassers.

“Every citizen has a Constitutional right to have their voice heard at the ballot box. This Republican objection shows their true intentions - to disenfranchise voters.
