Assembly Speaker-elect Vos to occupy 2 Capitol offices; Dems rip GOP moves

Assembly Speaker-elect Robin Vos will soon occupy two Capitol offices under a plan that will allow him to expand his staff to take over the speaker's office as well as the office currently used by Assembly Majority Leader Scott Suder.

It is unclear how many staffers will report to Vos, R-Rochester, when the new legislative session begins in January because hiring decisions are still being made, said spokeswoman Kit Beyer. But she confirmed that Suder's current office will soon be taken over by a team doing policy work that will report to Vos.
The majority leader has occupied that office for decades, but Suder, R-Abbotsford, said the office moves were his idea.

"I truly believe that both offices need more space," Suder said. "And I truly believe we will operate more efficiently and more effectively."

Suder will relocate to an office one floor below his current spot, displacing Speaker Pro Tem Bill Kramer, R-Waukesha.
