Wisconsin: A Chance to Shore Up our LAST LINE OF DEFENSE

Tomorrow is the primary in our State. We have two candidates running for State Supreme Court (Ed Fallone and Vince Megna). One of these two will face Pat Roggensack, a strong ally of Scott Walker and the Justice who stood up for (lied for) David Prosser after Prosser tried to choke Justice Bradley.

We need to unseat Roggensack. Both our candidates are good men, but Fallone gives us the best chance. A strong turnout for him will help secure funds nationally.

The State Supreme Court is our LAST LINE OF DEFENSE. We have a chance flip the balance to our side. Please get out and vote.

Wisconsin progressives have come roaring back since Governor Walker launched his attacks on working families. But we haven't conquered the root of the problem: big spending by the mega-rich and corporate interests, like the Koch brothers.

Those anti-democratic interests are looking to buy another seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court this year, and there's one person standing in their way: Ed Fallone.

Ed Fallone, my friend and Marquette Law School colleague, is a steadfast proponent for equal access to justice, and would make an excellent Supreme Court justice.

Ed won't be beholden to corporate interests that want to make the Court a wing of their political operation. But for Ed to be a voice for individual rights, and to fight off the attacks to come, he needs to rely on those he's running to serve: the people -- us.

This is a chance to make the Wisconsin Supreme Court the "goalie" for the out-numbered, out-spent Democrats in the Legislature. For a four years of Jim Doyle's term, he was our "goalie" with his handy-dandy veto pen...but we bone-headedly gave the Repubs and their tea-party loonies control over all three branches of government* which has given them two years for a reign of terror on Wisconsin values.

Take one of the branches back...let's at least get the Supreme Court!

*..all three branches of government...taking into consideration of course that Prosser won under very dubious circumstances in Waukesha County which, to this day, haven't been rectified.

Justice Roggensack is hardly a conservative judge
Once again, much is being made in the newspapers these days of the altercation which took place in the chambers of Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley back in June, 2011.

One reason for that is because there is an impending general election* for the seat of incumbent Justice Patience Roggensack and another reason is that Justice Bradley removed herself last week from the case of Wisconsin Judicial Commission v. David T. Prosser, Jr.

It was an altercation that Justice Roggensack had "almost nothing to do with," says risibly lies one of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's several in-house right-wing Bradley (no relation) Foundation propagandists.

Unless authoring a meanspirited, lawless order and then leading her little posse of alleged "conservatives" into Justice Bradley's chambers to insist on its immediate publication to allay the concerns of Republican allies in the Wisconsin legislature counts as having "almost nothing to do with" the subsequent confrontation among justices.

He (public employee, union thug) got home after plowing snow for 15 hours, but it didn't stop us from voting for Ed Fallone. Long day, but an important vote.

I was voter #45. My son-in-law voted at the same polling place an hour later and he was #46. Always bugs me when so few people turn out to vote.
