Wisconsin Petition: Tell G-Tac to Remove Their Armed Commandos from the Northwoods Immediately

No family on a fishing trip or weekend hike should have to fear their peaceful Northwoods outing might turn into a deadly encounter with masked commandos wielding military-style assault rifles. But that's exactly the danger we'll face until mining company Gogebic Taconite removes their security forces from the area.

Demand that G-Tac disband their unit of armed commandos before hikers arrive this weekend:
As a citizen of Wisconsin, I was outraged to learn you’ve hired fully camouflaged armed guards, wielding military-style assault rifles to patrol our beloved Northwoods.

This isn’t a war zone, and there’s no justification for this excessive and dangerous show of force. I call on you to respect your Wisconsin neighbors and immediately remove all your commandos.

the miners in northern Wisconsin? The armed guards will be back very soon. As much as I hate the thought of the mine that video is very damaging to our side and makes us look like crazed eco terrorists. Those workers have the right to not be there isn fear. This could get ugly.

This may get ugly. masked militia vs. masked protestors. Threats being made by both sides of bodily harm and even death. I think they need to get a few police or national guard out there or this is going to end in someone getting seriously hurt.

The company is not registered, therefore they are not legally operating in the state. I am appalled," Jauch said of Bulletproof, adding that Gogebic's quick decision to hire the security firm shows it has "no respect for the public and no regard for the law."
I guess the mercenaries are gonna have to wait a week or so before they can go back to their nice north woods summer jobs. Bulletproof Securities President Tom Parella "…said Wednesday that Bulletproof had been hired with little notice and had not expected the public attention that has focused on the firm's role in the proposed mine site in Iron County."
That is thanks to you guys and the national play that the story received.

He also stated that "his guards have at times worn masks to prevent them from being later recognized and harassed or harmed by mine opponents and that the masks are not meant to intimidate."

That is thanks to a wild imagination, a tactical attempt to construct new domestic enemies under the rubric of "eco-terrorists," and some pretty serious backpedalling.
