Grothman Brings Back Asbestos Bill Just in Time for DNR Revelation

"On Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, Sen. Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend) introduced a substitute amendment to controversial SB13, the torts and personal injury trusts reform bill that makes is harder for victims of asbestos poisoning to receive trust money allotted for dealing with mesothelioma. Introduced back in February by Grothman and Rep. Andre Jacque (R-De Pere), SB11 had a public hearing on April 11, although the hearing results have yet to be posted on the official Wisconsin legislative website.

On Oct. 6, WCMC broke the story of abundant grunerite asbestos at Bulk Sampling Site 4 of the proposed Gogebic Taconite (GTac) mining project in the Penokee Hills. GTac repeatedly denied the presence of asbestos in their bulk sampling permit application. The state Department of Natural Resources knew that grunerite was present at GTac’s bulk sample sites but did little to give the public information on the potential health risks. DNR Hydrologist Larry Lynch went so far as to say he would trust GTac to come up with a plan to contain the asbestos that they themselves were denying existed.

Nice timing, Glenn.

... my apologies for Glenn. He's a hateful moron. We had a very good candidate (Tonya Lohr) run against him last fall, but Glenn won with 70% of the vote.

Speaks volumes about my neighbors.

Who in their right mind would work for GTac?? The job would be finished in prob. less than 5 years and the workers would give their lungs therefore their health for it. There wouldn't be pension benefits, and SB11 & SB13 makes it almost impossible for those workers, who were looking for a better life, to access the trust funds.
In Bad River Tribal Chair Mike Wiggins Jr.s statement regarding GTac's coverup of the knowledge of asbestos and their puppet's immediate legislative reaction, SB11 & 13 are truly “a compelling premeditation for disaster.” And "premeditation" is the key word.
Gogebic Taconite Mine Co. knows exactly the price the workers would pay--sacrificing their health with little or no recourse and they are playing those cards now--before the project gets under way!

Those folks who are looking for these jobs need to be educated or deprogrammed in order to face the reality that they may have to deal with.

Indeed Grothman is pure evil!!!!!
