I understand that the poppy thing is a "support the troops" symbol in the Commonwealth, but usually people only wear one.

It's in remembrance of the war dead. My guess is that the one with the black centre is Canadian and the one with the green centre may be British.

I've also heard that people who oppose wars in Commonwealth countries wear white poppies.
