14 N.B. New Democrats jumping ship to join Greens

14 N.B. New Democrats jumping ship to join Greens

According to the CBC's Canada Poll Tracker, the NDP is polling around 10 per cent in Atlantic Canada

"SNIP.....

Fourteen disgruntled former New Brunswick NDP candidates are defecting and throwing their support behind the provincial and federal Greens — a move unlikely to spark confidence in the federal New Democrats on the cusp of an election call.

The ex-New Democrats announced their exodus at a news conference in Moncton this afternoon alongside provincial Green Party Leader David Coon.

In their declaration of support, the members note that federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May has visited New Brunswick, while NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh hasn't set foot in the province since winning the leadership back in 2017.

.....

The former New Democrats say they support the Green Party of Canada "and encourage all New Democrats, New Brunswickers and, indeed, all Canadians in voting for the Green Party of Canada this election."

That is my prediction too. Though it would not take much for NDPers to break for the Liberals applegrove Sep 2019 #4

I'm mostly an NDP voter, but I do like May. If the NDP members in NB haven't seen their party's leader since 2017 and feel a lack of support, I can understand why they jumped ship.

thinking by not visiting? Apparently they have to nominate 100 candidates by next week and they have no money. I love May. She would make a wonderful PM. Not going to happen but she could be a player in a minority government.

He definitely should have visited NB. Such a dumb move not to support the party at the provincial level. Here in NS, I see quite a bit of support for the Greens. Elizabeth May was in Halifax not too long ago. The Greens are really working to attract support. Like you, I'd love for May to be part of a minority government. There was a poll not too long ago that showed her as the most trusted party leader.

My prediction is that there will be a Liberal minority government...which will be good for the country. The Liberals broke quite a few promises (electoral reform, etc.)....they need to get back on track.
