Watch out for the Republican style rat**cking in the Canadian elections.

No the NDP and the Liberals could not form a coalition and govern instead of conservatives that won the most votes for a single party. We don't do that in Canada. Trudeau was asked tonight in the French debate and he said no that never happens. This meme is being spread by those who do not want NDP voters to break for the Liberals if they are afraid Conservatives will win.

Don't be fooled. We don't do coalition government. The single party that gets the most votes will form the Government.

But having a 3 party system only serves to split the vote among progressives & get cons elected.

Most Canadians are not right wing.

In the US, progressives & centrists work together under the Democratic party banner.

If the Liberals & NDP would merge into one big Liberal party (or whatever it would be called) we would never have to deal with the nonsense of another Con govt for the foreseeable future.

Liberals & NDP have more in common than any other parties - despite what Jagmeet would like people to think. NDP dug themselves in a hole this election cycle by attacking Trudeau more than focusing on their own (uncosted) platform, but the simple fact remains the same- Cons are the ideological foes of both the Liberals & the NDP.

The right wing parties united in the 1990's, it's long overdue for the center/left to do the same. And I know I'm not the only one who shares this opinion:

Sadly, with the hostility among progressive parties as of late, I won't be holding my breath for that to happen any time soon.

I already advance voted Liberal. Because they are the most viable progressive candidate in my riding. And because Trudeau is doing a good job.

Good series of posts on the election, BTW
