Brexit engineer Nigel Farage hired to promote effort to break California in two

(IMPORTANT CAUTION: MUCH OF THE INFORMATION SEEMS TO COME FROM THE UNRELIABLE DAILY FAIL):

Nigel Farage, the British politician known for his successful campaign to get the United Kingdom to leave the European Union, has teamed up with the backers of a campaign to split California into two separate states: a coastal state that would be dominated by liberal-dominated portion and an inland state that would be far more conservative.

This effort is one of several “CalExit” proposals that have been floated since the 2016 presidential election, in which Democrat Hillary Clinton won the national popular vote by nearly 3 million votes but still managed to lose by a lopsided margin in the Electoral College.

Farage and his finance partner Arron Banks have reportedly been recruited by Republican operatives Scott Baugh and Gerry Gunster to help raise money to fund the drive to get more than 500,000 signatures from around the state in order to put the proposal before voters on California’s 2018 ballot.

According to UK Daily Mail, the British duo raised around $1 million on a recent trip to California, primarily from technology entrepreneurs and agriculture.

have it between a northern portion and a southern portion. While I'm not an expert on California, I think that the inner regions would be less economically viable than the coastal regions--of course those inner regions might become coastal property if the "big one" ever occurs.

BTW, the UK can keep Nigel Farage--we already have our share of assholes in the States.

and it didn't get enough signatures to get on the ballot.

The population centers in Northern and Southern California are NOT going to go for that

I am not even sure if it is Constitutional by the state Constitution

enough signatures to qualify it to be on the ballot.

The population centers in Northern and Southern California won't go for, so they can stick it up their collective asses, because it won't see the light of day

since 1984 and it will never happen. Maybe they should go after Texas or Florida instead. They'd have a better chance there.

doesn't work on red states. They want to break up California because California is big, blue, smart and rich. It went solidly for HRC. And it is standing up to Trump. So it's got a bullseye. However, this will not happen. And having that scurvy monster Farage working on it makes it far less likely to happen.

I don't even believe it will divert much liberal energy because, as others have suggested, it's chances of success are slim to none. I do hope it might give all of us a chance to question how much leeway foreigners should be given to influence our politics. Besides Farage, Murdoch comes to mind as well.

As regards Nigel: (a) I find it hard to understand why someone who is in a party called United Kingdom Independence should spend so much time with his lips glued to the American president's rump; (2) why other countries would let him get any influence, especially the way he's fucked up his own country.

Google informs he became a US Citizen in 1985 in order to buy Fox. I certainly rue that.

If he's successful, will he bugger off like last time?

I watched him on the stump with dRump. The teabag fans had no idea who he was, or what he was on about.

The conservative farmers in the central valley know they would lose economically .And the fiscal conservatives in places like Orange County tend to be socially liberal(compared to conservatives nationally).
This lifelong Californian is not willing to give up an inch of this state and I suspect majority feel the same.
Who would give away Yosemite, Tahoe , the redwoods, Carmel ....
I could go on forever.

Not gonna happen .
