(10,303 posts)But if we're saying that a DJT in 1930's UK would have meant no abdication of Edward VIII, Princess Elizabeth (in our alternate reality) probably might be still around, especially since she was born in 1926 and Edward abdicated in 1936... and this is assuming that in our alternate reality the only thing that changes is the Royal Family.
As for my remark about Neville Chamberlain - he is maligned for that Munich paper and "peace in our time" quote, but it can also be said that he was buying Britain time ... as Britain was no where near ready for another war in 1938.

I've been thinking recently about the comparison between George W Bush jnr and President Fart. President Fart makes Dubya look like a model of competence in comparison. He may have come across as a total doofus but nonetheless, he did seem a lot more capable of getting things done. Maybe he was actually more dangerous than President Fart for this reason?

(41,208 posts)is a tendency to let other people run the country for them half the time and tell them what to do. Dubya might not have been so bad if he'd chosen some only moderately awful advisors such as daddy, but he let Cheney and Rumsfeld take control. Fart has even worse people (yes, I didn't think it was possible to be worse than Cheney either!) such as the neo-fascist Bannon.
