Army 'on standby to deliver food and medicine' if no Brexit deal is reached

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/army-on-standby-to-deliver-food-and-medicine-if-no-brexit-deal-is-reached-a3898761.html

The Army could be drafted in to deliver emergency food, fuel and medicine if Britain exits the EU without a Brexit deal.

The military would be called in if blockages at ports after Britain leaves the EU led to shortages in supplies, ministers told the Sunday Times.

Blueprints usually reserved for civil emergencies have been included as part of the “no deal” planning, the newspaper reported.

Helicopters and army trucks could be used to carry medicine to vulnerable people outside the south-east.

From across the pond, it seems increasingly likely that without a new referendum or Parliamentary intervention, there will be no Brexit deal. If this is accurate, this is rather scary. Best wishes to our UK DU'ers.

.....that the government is making adequate preparations for the coming mess. The new minister for exiting the EU, Dominic Raab seems to be under the impression that everyone else is going to do the stockpiling, rather than the government themselves.

...behind closed doors.

UK, is currently undergoing a stealth RW coup.

After govt. 'elects' for food and drug shortages, civil aircraft grounded - then will come 'state of emergency'.

With Henry VIII powers, it IS a fucking coup.

Even if Britain exits, why wouldn't food and pharms be available but at a higher price?

I read the article as that stuff won't be sold to Britain or imported. If so, what happens when the stockpiled stuff runs out?

But the Conservatives are desperate to avoid that, and the Labour leadership is also opposed. Both main parties are too busy chasing the votes of the OAP's who voted leave to tell people any sort of harsh truths about this disaster.

There was a March for a People's Vote in London, attended by over 100,000 people. And there are several online petitions. Some polls suggest that a majority now favour a second referendum, but neither the government nor most of the Labour Opposition want one, so at present it's not happening.
