Human rights laws helped gain freedom for LGBT people

U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron has said that if re-elected next year, he would push to replace the current Human Rights Act; however, the HRA has been the underpinning of many legal gains for LGBT individuals, and some have expressed concern that those principals would not be protected under a new plan.

The Prime Minister (promised) earlier this week to replace the Act and the European Convention of Human Rights with a British Bill of Rights if re-elected next year, adding “we do not require instruction on this from judges in Strasbourg."
