(101,321 posts)He knew what he was doing; he didn't try to get away afterwards; he knew he would end up in prison for many years (and, at least at one stage, thought that might be good "so as not to have to worry about life or money" . To a layman, he does sounds psychopathic, and also nihilistic - thinking a life in prison is worth giving in to a short term impulse of hatred that doesn't produce any benefit for himself at all.
