Norman Baker quits, says working for Theresa May was ‘like walking through mud’

A fresh disagreement over drugs policy just days ago seems to have been the final straw for the Liberal Democrat MP, who accused Tories of suppressing a report supporting the case for a review in drug law.


And Mr Baker hit out at the Conservative Cabinet minister as he announced his resignation, accusing her of viewing her coalition colleagues as a ‘cuckoo in the nest’ and comparing working under her to ‘walking through mud’.

‘They have looked upon it as a Conservative department in a Conservative government, whereas in my view it’s a Coalition department in a Coalition government,’ he told the Independent.....


‘I have had to work very much harder to get things done even where they are what the Home Secretary agrees with and where it has been helpful for the Government and the department.
