The next US Senate President Pro Tempore after Patty Murray(D-WA) is Ron Wyden(D-OR).
Ron Wyden-OR is the 3rd most Senior Democrat in the US Senate after Dianne Feinstein(D-CA) and Patty Murray(D-WA). Ron Wyden is up for re-election in 2028, the same time Patty Murray is up for re-election.
Senior Democratic US Senators up for re-election in 2026 are Richard Durbin(IL) and Jack Reed(RI) both were elected in 1996. Both are likely to retire in 2026.
In 2028, Patty Murray(WA),Ron Wyden(OR),and Chuck Schumer(NY) retires.
That makes Maria Cantwell(WA) US Senate President Pro Tempore in 2029.
