and put them on cd's several years ago. I used Nero 7 ultra edition and hooked up the stereo to the computer (I still have a great file on my computer desktop that explains how to do everything step by step including what cables you'd need and how to hook up the stereo equipment to the computer).

It took me WEEKS but only because I have soooooo much music accumulated over the years what with taping off the radio and taping friends' tapes/albums that has spanned decades.

For some stuff I used a nifty program that they don't make anymore called Cool Edit 2000 that I bought cheap back in 2000 that once you copy the music files you can convert them to mp3's and manipulate the wave files to nip out background noises, hissing, etc. You can still download Cool Edit 2000 at some websites that offer older versions of programs and programs no longer in existence, but some of them may be trial versions that don't let you use all the features. Cool Edit does so much though that it would probably still work fine just to convert to mp3's and piddle around a bit with the wave files.

I don't think that the trial version of Nero 7 ultra edition lets you do this one thing though. I remember going through that before and why I finally bought it, but it was on sale for like $25. You could always get the trial version online and crack it, too.
